YT, i think a little reserch before posting such errors would be useful...
on short: the nDAC is a signal converter, which passes the digital signal read by the cd5xs to an analogical signal inside the pre-amp of the XS and then further on to power amp and speakers.
the hicap is just a power supply, it does not processes any audio signal, just provides as stable DC as it can to 2 stages of the XS pre-amp instead of his own one stage. it is true that when used in a classic Naim combination, the audio signal passes through the hicap (to many conjunctions and few cables like the 2 snaics and the internal hicap cables), but it is just straight wire, nothing gets in the way of this signal as an audio component except for the wires.
of course one has the choice to swap that way too long cable chain when using caps for the preamp, and use an adaptor like a RCA to 4 PIN DIN from sub-out to power amp in in case of the XS, and leave the flatcap to power preamp section with the 5 to 5 DIN snaic. in this way one snaic, one interna cable and aboout 4 extra cable junctions are avoided, and should result (and it does actually) into better sound!
Sincerely,
